Dear Carl and Rongrong,

For pp200, run12 was with BHT2, threshold 18 is ~4.2 GeV, which is lower than AuAu200 case.
Because of lower background in pp200.

Thank you
Nihar

Hi Rongrong—

The BSMD is __SLOW__. So anything that can be done to tame the rate
without adversely impacting the physics is a good thing. Looking back
at trigger configurations, L2Gamma has been fed by the funny BHT*BJP
combo during the past few pp200 runs. However, during the recent
AuAu200 runs, it was fed by BHT3, with a threshold at 25, equivalent
to 5.9 GeV in a single tower. (I checked 2011 and 2016; suspect
it’s also true for 2014, but didn’t look.) This requires a more
localized energy deposit at Level-0, and hence has a lower rate.

That’s the hardware-oriented picture. For the physics-oriented
picture, you should talk to Saskia, Peter, Nihar, …, rather than me.

Hope this helps!

Carl

Hello Carl Thanks for the comment. Sorry, I am not familiar with the
details of L2Gamma trigger. Do you mean that the rate of BHT2
(threshold = 18) trigger is too high for L2Gamma, such that we need a
BHT3 trigger? Thanks. Best Rongrong On

Hi Rongrong, All—

A note from the peanut gallery…

During 2015, the BHT3 trigger bit was utilized for some other
purpose. (I think UPC J/psi, but won’t swear to that.)
Therefore, L2Gamma was fed by a funny composite trigger that
included BHT and BJP constraints. There is a reasonable chance that
the BHT3 trigger bit will be freed up. If so, it would be a natural
choice to feed the L2Gamma routine.

Stay Healthy!
