Brennan's Preliminary Request slides are the first 8 slides here:
https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/20240920_HP2024_BSchaefer_rev_II_2.pdf
Those slides are his Preliminary Request slides and contain the information requested in the template. After those slides, Brennan has appended his draft Hard Probes presentation, which may be causing some confusion, but the first 8 slides should be what you are looking for. -AK

Thanks Brennan, please post the slides to a drupal node (https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/node/add/starpresentations) so we can give comments. This chain is mainly for preliminary requests, so if you could send the preliminary request slides here that would be great.

Thanks,
Isaac

Hi Yi,

Thank you for the comments.

p3: I'm unsure what you mean, would you be able to clarify?

-Included Bad run list
-Included PAs

The dip in systematics in R_{L} is due to how the systematic variations interact with the normalization.  As systematic uncertainties shift the distribution to the right or left, and the normalization will move distributions at lower angles up and at higher angles down (In order to integrate out to one on the log scale), this results in the varied curves somewhat "pivoting" around a region, which results in lower systematics there.  I think it is good to represent systematics this way, because it reflects how the resultant curve would actually change with a change in hadronic correction, tower gain, etc.

Best,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks a lot for the combined request, I am about to ask for it. :-)
I have some suggestions for your consideration.
 - Please add the PA information
 - p3: the plots look funny to me, not sure if it is my issue.
 - p6: Do you have the bad run list?
 - p16: there is a dip in R_L, do you know why?
 - p23: I think you can remove this page for the preliminary request.

Cheers,
Yi

Hi Isaac,

|vz - vpdVz| was a leftover typo, I have removed it.

I've posted a new version of the slides here: Combining the information from both and only included the most up to date figures that I am requesting preliminary for, with some aesthetic changes since the last update.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the preliminary request. Since I’ve seen your analysis daily as it develops, I don’t really have any further comments, and I sign off. I have a couple of small things, below. When you get the chance, please create a single set of slides with the final preliminary request so it can be posted along with your plots on the preliminary figures page (and the figures in the update are pretty grainy and small so please make sure the plots are visible).

Thanks,
Isaac

Original slides:
4. |vz - vpdVz| < ?

Updated slides:
4. Can you specify that the photons are intermediate here? I.e. it's via allowing the decays of the heavy neutrals, with the photon being the intermediate particle in the chain?

Hi Hard Probes presenters,

I would appreciate it if you could reply to this message with a link to your preliminary request slides (if applicable) and a sentence or two describing any follow-ups you are currently implementing from previous meeting discussions before preliminary status can be given, as well as an estimate for the time/date when you will send a final set of request slides. Sorry to those of you who have already sent slides in some form to other email chains — it would just be helpful for the conveners if we could collect the latest and most up-to-date links all in one place as we review.

Thanks,
Isaac
