Hello QA Board,
In preparation for the upcoming run we would like to ask what TOF mode the
PWG delegates would like to see used for the FastOffline-based picoDSTs.
There are typically two modes for pp running: (i) using the VPD for the start
time, or (ii) using the startless mode.
The startless mode has seen some great improvements that are currently used
by the spin PWG in the 2017 pp analysis. Using the VPD would be compatible
with most of the past pp runs but comes at a price of lower event-by-event
efficiencies and less favorable start time resolutions.
Note that this only impacts the fastoffline-based QA efforts. The decision to
use either one of them does not affect the data taking nor will it have an
impact on what will ultimately be used for offline production.
Best,
-Frank
