Hi Frank and all,

  1. I don’t see any issues which have blocked the creation of dedicated library for calibration. And Gene has already created it as SL24y.
  2. The production of calibration samples can be started right now with SL24y:
  1. I would prefer to produce the calibration samples for all fixed target runs in 2019-2021.
  2. I am not sure that SL24y library will reproduce results obtained in TFG24c/TFG24d due to some differences which were not included in TFG24c.Export.Mini (Vc and some modifications of tracking), By this reason I would like to keep picoDst for these calibration runs to compare strange particle reconstruction with KFParticle.
  3. The calibration sample production and the calibration itself will take at least 2 weeks. Thus, the full production can be started ~1 October.
  4. New production chain should have added “Corrz” to activate Alignmnet2024 ,
  5. DBV should be set as tomorrow, i.e. DBV20240915, to account fixes of starTriggerDelay. (see https://www.star.bnl.gov/~fisyak/star/Tpc/Alignment/T0/)
There is an issue, which Is under study right now:
  1. observed difference in reconstruction of old data samples with old (SL24a, dev, without Alignment2024) and new (gitdev, with Alignmnet2024).
  2. I don’t see difference in hits, which could be affected by Alignment2024, but
  3. I see difference in tracks, which should not be affected by aligmnet.
  4. To understand this issue,  I need full sample of test for /star/rcf/test/*dev/daq_sl302.stica/*/*/*_64bit with event.root files with hits.
  5. For now, I have only samples for 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022. I need 2000-2015, 2019-2021.

Hi Yuri, All -

Thank you for clarifying. This was not particularly clear from your “ignored” comment.

With this email (cc: TPC and S&C management group), I want to formally ask the TPC experts and S&C experts for the green light, or whether there are any fundamental issues that need to be addressed before we move to the creation of a dedicated library so that we can start calibrations and production of FXT no later than next week.

Thanks,

 -Frank

Hi Frank, thank you for explanation. Yes, it is true. I have removed “OSectorAlign” because it does compete with corrections coming from (new) Alignment2024.

Hi Yuri,

I am referring to these particular comment that was made in the PR and which appears to indicate that the CorrZ option removes the OSectorAlign chain option that implements a TPC distortion correction. That may be unintentional, but should  be corrected unless there is an explanation.

What may be confusing is that it doesn't explicitly pop up in the PR as a change, but for CorrX, CorrY this chain option is included, while for the new CorrZ it is explicitly removed (see line 1142 of  StRoot/StBFChain/BigFullChain.h)

-Frank
