Hi Prashanth,
normally Thursdays at 2pm would be fine, but 10/17 is the Directors all hand meeting.
We also need to make sure Tim and Tonko can attend.

Hi Flemming,
I bought up this in one of our ops meetings. From the meeting my
understanding was this amount of time is sufficient. But, its better
if we talk about this again. Shall we discuss this during the second
part of the ops meeting coming Thursday at 2 pm?
Thanks,
Prashanth

Dear Prashanth,
I think this amount of time for tpc maintenance needs to be discussed
further. What you have is nominal 2 months, but with Thanksgiving and
Christmas it is at least 2 weeks shorter. I suggest we have a meeting
which includes Tonko, Tim, Alexi to discuss a more detailed planning.
There was substantial damage to the electronics from the pp run that
has
to be addressed to have a successful Au-Au run

Dear all,
I would like to start the shutdown operations meetings from
Thursday,
October 17th at 2:00 PM, during our usual time. Please use the
regular
STAR ops meeting coordinates provided below.
The shutdown will officially begin at 8:00 AM on Monday, October
21st. We will have Greg available for technical assistance
throughout
the week of 21st, and Bob will assist with magnet water draining and
pole tip removal.
Schedule of Operations:

*
On 21st, once the beam is dumped and the necessary pedestal runs are
completed, the shift crew will bring the detectors to APEX mode.

* The magnet will be ramped down, and Prashanth will remove
the
magnet key.
* Subsystem experts will safely shut down their respective
equipment
for the extended shutdown.

*
After the magnet is ramped down, Greg will remove the ground straps
and barriers around the magnet. This task should take approximately
one hour.
*
Akio will remove the BBC on Monday morning.
*
The EPD crew will remove the EPD on Monday, with plans to finish
within the day. To accommodate this, we will perform tasks 2, 3, and
4
in parallel where feasible.
*
Alexei will purge the TPC, TOF, MTD, and GMT subsystems. The shift
crew will remain on-site until Alexei provides clearance to dismiss.
*
Prashanth and David will purge the sTGC gas system, aligned with the
TPC purge timeframe.

*
Tim will remove the sTGC ROB box from the west pole tip between
Monday(21st) and Wednesday(23rd). Prashanth removes sTGC HV cables.
*
STSG and CAD MTechs will drain the magnet water and blow out the
coils
on Wednesday(23rd). In the morning Jameela will coordinate with CAS
and water group to shutdown the magnet water.
*
STSG and CAD MTechs will remove the east pole tip on Friday(25th)
and
the west pole tip on Monday(28th).
*
STSG and carpenters will install the east and west scaffolding on
Tuesday(29th).

* TPC/iTPC maintenance will begin on Wednesday, October 30th,
and is
expected to continue until the first week of January.
*
The shutdown is estimated to last 4 to 5 months, although this has
not
been officially confirmed. If the shutdown is not significantly
extended, we will begin preparations for the next run in the second
week of January.

Please let me know if I have missed any items or any suggestions.
Thanks,
Prashanth
