Not only was Satoshi an outstanding physicist and superb leader, he cared deeply about the RHIC and BNL communities. He was also a true gentleman. He, and his wisdom and care, will be very much missed.

It saddened me to learn of Satoshi Ozaki's death.  I think everyone
knows that RHIC exists in large part thanks to Satoshi's wisdom and
untiring work as head of the project to design and build it.  That would
be enough for most people, but in fact it's only a small part of what he
accomplished over his career.  In addition, he was a genuinely nice and
funny person and I always enjoyed talking with him.

With great sadness, we learned Satoshi Ozaki passed away on Saturday,
July 22.   In his long and distinguished career, Satoshi made leading
contributions to nuclear and particle physics and major facilities,
including TRISTAN, RHIC, NSLS-II.  He will be dearly missed.
 The family has arranged a service for those who wish to attend at the
Alexander Rothwell (formerly Alexander Tuthill) Funeral Home, 6447 Rt.
25A, in Wading River on Monday July 24th , between  1 to 2pm.  Following
the service, there will be a private cremation.
