    Hi Kin,
Thanks for the information. So if we can
get 2 people to work full time on the drilling
with two drills then this will take ~9 weeks
once we factor in contingency. In a perfect world adding
an additional person with an additional drill would
reduce the 9 weeks to 6 weeks, but it is unlikely we would
be able to work so efficiently that we'd be able to
    have that much schedule savings.
Lets get going with two techs continuously drilling and
tapping and in the mean time we'll see if it is possible
to add a third person and drill.

Hi,

Thanks for the comment.  Though the no. of man-hours doesn't change, the no. of hours in time (if we can truly use two drills simultaneously all the time) will hopefully cut in half, right ?

All:

Please note that the use of two drills does not cut the required labor hours in half. There may be some economy gained by having two technicians able to provide mutual assistance to each other, but the required labor hours is still in the area of 579.

Hello Bill,

As I mentioned to you yesterday,  attached is a spreadsheet from Jon Hock that shows the technician hours needed to finish drilling holes in steel for sPhenix High-Field Test.  It does not include assembly hours for technicians, survey, etc…

After a couple modification (and timing observation), he came up with 579 hours for the remaining hours

of drilling and tapping.   ( For management type of people, you can add 25% contingency J )

Even with two drills at the same time, 579/2 ~290 hours is still a lot of hours remained to be done.  We need

all the help that we can get J

Kin
