sPHENIX discussion of the superconducting solenoid

Hi Paul,

 

Just the last piece of steel is not installed !

 

Rob Karl just told me that unfortunately they somehow had to modify another part which caused a delay.

Though that part had been done, they need to go to do something else this evening.

 

So, the plan is that 1st thing tomorrow morning, they'll put up the last piece of steel !   Then, we can start cool-down.

 

One more night to wait ....

 

 

--- Pablo Rosas and his guys are working hard for their test.  They also hope that they can do the short-circuit test this Friday or next Monday.   Somehow,  the 110 V source (supplying the electricity for the sPHENIX Power supply) had bad breakers --- the electrician had to come to work on it today.

 

--- Frank Toldo/Paul Giannotti are connecting the strain gauge/linear pots.

Have you installed temperature sensors near the current leads as you told me that you wanted to ?

After making longer shims as Jon wanted this morning, they put up another piece of steel and they are doing the last one ...
