Dear all,
Although we are not having MVTX bi-weekly meeting today, I thought it is important to give everyone a brief update on the progress:

  1. MVTX review response was submitted to sPHENIX project office and BNL management.
  1. On-going discussion on a few PMP details
  2. Expect to receive approval and fund in a few weeks
MIT and LBNL received early R&D fund to work on mechanical system design and carbon structure cost estimation.
  1. First meeting with LBNL engineers held 8/30, working on homework, expect new estimate by the end of September.
  2. US carbon facility companies contacted, one in CA showed interest and promise, try to get quote soon
CERN received fund for stave and RU production
  1. sPHENIX stave production will start from next week,
  2. RU boards produced, will be sent to BNL/UT-A for test & QA
Walt and Ming will visit CERN next week to discuss production plan and also visit a French carbon factory

More details can be found in my presentation from yesterday’s sPHENIX project meeting,

Cheers,
Ming
