Dear All,

In addition to the training requirements outlined in my previous message, there are three more items to pay attention to for both shift and work in 1008:

1) RHIC Access Card (pink or blue card)
We’ll soon go into Restricted Access.  Then anybody entering the IR will need their RHIC Access Card to enter.  So anybody on shift or doing work in 1008 should have that card.  When you take your CA Users Classroom Training, you’ll get an email with instructions where/how to pick one up.

2) Iris Scan
During beam operations when we go into Controlled Access, anybody entering the IR will need a key.  For that you’ll need your Iris Scan on file with C-AD.  Anybody on shift and all subsystem experts should make sure they have their Iris Scan on file and test this with the iris scanner in the sPHENIX Control Room.

3) sphenix-run-l
I’m sending this message to both sphenix-l and sphenix-run-l.  But really all run-related communication should be on sphenix-run-l.  So anybody on shift and all subsystem experts should be subscribed to sphenix-run-l.  (We have fixed the earlier subscription issues.  So if you tried to subscribe earlier and failed, try again.  (You’ll get a follow-up message from the list server to confirm your subscription request.))

Best regards,
Stefan

Dear All,

SHIFT TRAINING (scroll down for work training)
==============
The shift sign-up page (linked on the run web page:  https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/run/2023/) lists the trainings needed for shift crews and the additional trainings for shift leaders (and period coordinators).  This list is also reproduced below.  Almost all trainings are online and can (should!) be done before coming to BNL for shift.
There are two in-person trainings that happen the Monday before shift starts on Tuesday:

1) Collider-User Training
————————————————
This applies if you have never taken CA User training. (If you have, you can take the challenge exam online.)  You need to register for this training:

https://www.bnl.gov/training/ -> Training Courses -> Classroom Courses -> Collider Accelerator -> Course Calendar -> Expand the arrow of the training you want and register

Otherwise the training might be cancelled.

2) Shift Training
——————————
This is given in person after the Monday shift change meeting in the 1008 conference room.

A few weeks before your shift starts, your training record will be updated to include JTA RC-42J (or RC-42H if you are shift leader or PC).  This will make it easy to check if you have all required trainings.

In addition to "Cyber Security" (GE-CYBERSEC) and "Guest Site Orientation" (TQ-GSO) which you should already have, the trainings required for all shifters include:Furthermore, for Shift Leaders, there are additional trainings:
WORK TRAINING
==============
The JTA for work in 1008 is RC-42G.  It corresponds to a subset of the shift training:

In addition to "Cyber Security" (GE-CYBERSEC) and "Guest Site Orientation" (TQ-GSO) which you should already have, the trainings required for work in 1008 include:
As you’ll learn in the sPHENIX User Awareness Training (AD-OPM-11.2.9), these trainings are not necessarily sufficient.  Additional training might be required depending on the nature of the work.  Also, check-in with a Work Control Coordinator and the Shift Leader is required before doing any work in 1008.

    Best regards,
    Stefan
