Minutes shift change 2023-04-28
general
—————
- sPHENIX construction officially completed
- prestart/pole tip doors/access to bore (NB: PLAN HAS CHANGED SINCE SHIFT CHANGE MEETING)
- paint hasn’t arrived
- current plan is to take down scaffolding Monday and then claim all prestart items closed
- paint as soon as paint arrives (Monday?), then negotiate for scaffolding to be restored with painted boards (Tuesday)
- in the meantime Pablo can hopefully do his power supply work on Monday, Tuesday next week
- then open pole tip doors and restore diving boards (late Tuesday/early Wednesday?)
- calendar
- May 1: IR gate will become active (need RHIC access card to enter)
- May 5: begin of run party
- May: 8 begin cool down (cryo weeks start counting = budget starts counting) —> NO ACCESS on May 8
- May 10 beam in blue ring —> beginning of period with RESTRICTED ACCESS during day/NO ACCESS at night
- May 16 evening store for experiments
- eventually will transition into NO ACCESS
- May 18 sPHENIX solenoid at 4 K, two days of RESTRICTED ACCESS during day/NO ACCESS at night
evening: Genki
- not much
- EMCal activity, Sean left SiPM on south side chillers on, asked shift crew to watch (not interlocked, only indicator)
- will be left on all the time
- bathroom clogged, fixed
night: David
- nothing really
- inconsistency in annunciator, fixed
day: Zhaozhong
- 11:00am MVTX daq01 chiller was found turned off, probably accidental turn off by shift crew while reading values
- solution: Lee will pull values to annunciator in the future eliminating the need to push buttons on the chiller
- water leak on chiller platform A due to tech work
- error message for EMCal NE cooling panel advanced filter removed: Rob: ignore
MBD (Mickey)
- Kevin fixed interlock problem, interlock good
- keep HV on starting Monday
- laser timed in, good enough for all testing needs
HCal (Hanpu)
- yesterday lost test pulse signal from test pulse fanout board to lower crate in 2W2, replaced clockmaster, connected USB cable to good clock master, problem happened again, fixed by unplugging and putting back cable, real cause is connection problem between boards —> needs to be addressed before run starts
- at 3:00pm bias trip affecting all Mpod modules (although trip setting should be as intended), maybe too many GUIs running?--> limit to single monitoring GUI
EMCal (Sean)
- some progress with coming water SiPM loops, working on bias (Eric testing)
TPOT
- no report
TPC (Aditya)
- first data last night to buffer boxes
- fee connectivity issues
- Takao fixed most FEEs, most FEEs linked, fixed missing sector 8: swapped felix card
- weekend: will continue pedestal data taking
- shift crew not required to monitor FEE temperature, but note major changes
INTT (Rachid)
- with help of Martin, succeeded to get INTT data to new servers, working, today Raul will work on setting up GTM
- implementing interlock system solution: plan to test interlocks Monday 2:00pm
- GUI updated (Maya)
MVTX (Cameron)
- hooked up all FELIX servers to GTM, all six servers locked, this morning 2/6 servers not transferring data over PCI bus, bios setting, fixed, leak due to ECW work, will turn on ECW to chillers either today or Monday
sEPD
- no report
DAQ (Martin)
- daq01 (configures DCM2s) weak disk, stand-in machine with solid state disk (daq04): move next week (maybe tomorrow), swap will be transparent (again called daq01)
Magnet
- no report
Plan of the day
- DAQ development
- subsystem testing
