Hi Te-Chuan,

Thanks for the slides, very good.
I have some questions on your study:
  - p.6: you said "the results for global and primary tracks are the same", do you mean 100% identical? I am a bit surprised, probably I missed something.
  - p.8: Do we know the reason for the shifting mean of the resolution? 20 - 30% shifting is quite a lot.
  - p.15: it surprises me that the 0 FST configuration has better charge mis-identification rate than that of 1 disk. Do you know the reason?
  - p.16: the fake hits rate is not only for FST (also considered the fake hits in sTGC), right? Can we decouple the results from these two sub-detectors?
  - p.18: the pT resolutions for 1 FST and 3 FST are almost the same which I don't quite understand.

Cheers,
Yi

Sorry for sending this out a bit late.

Dear Elke,

Followings are my answer but they may not be 100% correct.

There are two things:
First, about two weeks ago, I found some inconsistencies of the efficiency between my results and Guannan’s.
Now we know the discrepancy is come from the nHitsFit>=5 cut that I used to make sure the track quality.
However, as you can find in my slides, this cut affect the efficiency a lot and make strange eta dependency.
We want to check that with the price we paid (decrease the efficiency), how much we can gain from this cut.

Second, We found a bug in Guannan’s silicon fast simulator at about the same time.
He fixed the bug and additionally he updated the silicon to 8 constant R segmentations within R from 5cm to 28 cm.

There are basically two reason I redo the study:
1) we want to make sure the bug and the changes will not affect Guannan's previous results.
2) More realistic simulation is needed to make the conclusion on how many silicon disks we need. This can further divide into two part: the particles distributions from collisions (pythia and hijing) and the tracking algorithm in non-uniform magnetic fields. First one is more easy and that is what I’m doing but the later one is not. I’m just do the thing that I am able to do now.

Cheers,
Te-Chuan

Quick summary: the results with tighter cut on the hits requirement have better charge misidentification rate 1% vs 2% (with out hits requirement). But the momentum resolution and efficiency are about the same.
>>   - Te-Chuan also finished the comparison between different configurations (only sTGC, 1 FST + sTGC, 2 FST + sTGC and 3 FST + sTGC). The efficiencies are similar, but the momentum resolution is much better in the 3 FST + sTGC. Detailed results will be presented in his report, too.
