hi Mike,
Great! Assembly looks a bit expensive but I don't really know what IST paid or how that was done. The new cable price, leadtime, and spec sheet all look very good I think. We should double-check it againts the old version of course, but you probably already did.

I would hope we can hear something about how the cable fits in with the mechanical plan before you would order the cable. Does it fit? Will the stiffness of this cable (about same as of the IST cable) pose any problem? Are we spending a lot of money for a smallest-possible diameter cable as we had for IST without a real need for that? I don't know the answers to any of those questions which I hope could be answered before you would order the cable.

Anyway though, this is great progress, thanks!

Gerard

Hey All,

I’ve uploaded a copy of the received quotes here <https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/Combined%20Quotes%20Binder%207-17-2019.pdf>. The AlphaWire spec sheet applies ONLY to the quote supplied by Allied Electronics on pages 1 and 2. Page 4 lists a quote from KC Electronics, this quote includes assembly and point-to-point testing of the cable (Terminating the cable into the D-Sub connector, required housings, Backshells, pins, etc.) with a cost breakdown. I am waiting for a supplied spec sheet from him.
