Hey Gerard, 

To clarify on Q1, I ordered backshells that fit very well with the 10 
prototype cables, but I did not order any extras for production. I ordered 
1,850 pins that you specified and 50 pin housings, which I have in my lab.

hi Mike,
        I'm not sure how many. For instance, if there are 2 lengths of 18 
each, maybe having 2 spares of each length is a good plan. If there will be 6 
lengths and 6 each, maybe 1 spare of each? Or we could have a plan of holding 
only 5-6 spare half-cables (D connector terminated, longest length) and spare 
T-boards and cut and solder those at BNL only if a spare is needed. I think 
that wouldn't be unreasonable since the spares will be used only during 
extended downtime when the detector is withdrawn from the cone. How long do 
you think it would take you to terminate to a T board? Maybe 3 hours or so is 
my guess.

p.s. On Q1 I think you should get at least one now and see that it fits well 
with the cable. After that I'd get the full quantity,  once that's defined.
