Hey Zhenyu,

Apologies for the delay.

I did some testing on FST-TEST-07 - I did indeed miss a solder bridge on the heel fillet of the Nicomatic connector, shorting OUT6P and OUT6N. I removed the excess solder. This was a joint that I had made, not the vendor. This goes to "APV3" on the Outer hybrid. Does this correspond to the "APV Chip #7" you mention below?

FST-TEST-XX - I checked more thoroughly and I don't see any solder bridges. I paid special attention, and measured continuity and termination of OUT5P and OUT5N - which corresponds to this "APV Chip 6" if I'm understanding right. It doesn’t have any measurements that stick out – I can see the termination on both wires of the pair, I have continuity through the cable as well.

FST-TEST-XX was the first cable we made by the vendor if memory serves. I don’t recall having them make any changes – All of the boards were assembled at once. KC Electronics assembled the purple cable to one board (FST-TEST-XX no label) and gave it to us for inspection, before doing the remainder of the batch. Outer 2 APV does have the pin placement correct (i.e. there aren’t swapped pairs), but I’ll have to double check tomorrow time permitting, to make sure they didn’t cross-pair or invert pairs of any of these signals on the first board. It would be a very easy mistake to make, as this purple cable we ordered unfortunately has almost a 6-8” lay.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

To follow up Zhenyu's email, please find a summary slide for the cable check in the attachment.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Xu

Hi Mike,

I just dropped off two cables, FST-TEST-07 and FST-TEST-XX, to you (Building 510 address) at FedEx. They are expected to be delivered this Thursday (tracking number 396389239275).

We had some issues with these two cables:
1. FST-TEST-07: a chip (if we count chip 1-8, I think it was chip #7) is missing from the readout. This problem is reproducible
2. FST-TEST-XX: when I first used it, a chip (chip #6) was missing from the readout. Next time (a couple of weeks later) when I used it, chip 6 is in the readout but the pedestals of the chip showed abnormal behavior.
Xu will send some plots showing the problems later, which should confirm which chip it was.

I think we need to find out the cause of these problems and also implement a QC procedure for the inner signal cable assembly for production.

Best,
Zhenyu
