I take it back on the packaging cost.

The ATLAS LAr BOE is consistent with the US BOE.

$20k NRE + $1.5/chip = 136k x (0,986 CHF/$) = 134 kCHF

I was reading the numbers off the ADC packaging cost, which is $6/chip with no NRE, in the ATLAS LAr BOE.

Hi John,

I updated the slides, and uploaded to the indico.

The Packaging costs in ATLAS LAr BOE seems to be different from the US BOE before.  We need to resolve that.

Hi Hao/Hong,

Your slides look good.  I give

a few comments below.

                                John

Hong

p. 13 - "... is no longer necessary and therefore

is discontinued (~ 100k savings)"

p. 16 - 6.4.5 (not 6.5.4)

p. 17 - you should check with Hucheng, but I think

the packaging costs in the ATLAS LAr BOE are from

BNL in fact

p. 18 "... in lots of 25 wafers"

p. 19 "Updated production cost for PA/Shaper,

based on new quote from CERN"

Hao

p. 6 - add bullet for FE along lines of

"Integrate early - perform system performance

tests of Analog Testboard and Slice Testboard as

soon as available"

p. 12 - add initial bullet saying

"True up" of System Integration schedule needed to

wait for FEB2 and BE schedules to be updated. Now that

is done, have prepared changes to System Integration RLS

and are ready to implement them as soon as we can start

a new DOE BCP.

p. 12 - instead of "Add a new task" say "Adapt to delay

in FEB2 development (due to PA/S and lpGBT delays) and

reduce risk by performing first system tests on Analog Testboard,

instead of waiting for Slice Testboard"

Hi all,

I uploaded a draft of the slides for my

L3 talk; comments are welcome.  I now have to work

on preparing the agenda page.  I will look later at

Hao's draft slides, and everyone else let me know

if you upload an updated version.

Regards,

John

     Hi all,

I give below a few quick comments on the draft slides

posted so far.  I have also posted a preliminary version

of my draft L2 overview slides; please take a look and

send me comments.  (the parts about BE firmware are still

subject to change, as we work with Kj to understand what

is going on there, but the rest should be stable.)

                John

     Tim

     p. 15 - what does "Boundary conditions" mean in this context?

pp. 1 - 18 - good for external review, but perhaps too long

and detailed for internal scrubbing?  Consider shortening

     p. 24 - your signs are reversed.  Calculate new-old

            - VL+ has increased by almost $0.5M ??!!

            - I sent you costs for COLUTAv2 testboard

and radiation testboard. Can't you use those to

     update the test jig costs?

pp. 25-28 - include on slides previous costs, so

     direct comparison can be made

     p. 32 - "SMY"

     Andy

     p. 2 - edit to remove my email comments

     p. 5 - "US previously responsible for Carrier board...

as well as passive RTM (similar to Phase 1)"

     p. 10 - stress that new h/w cost estimate and new

quotes included in current Scrubbing Report

     p. 11 "better naming conventions" change to

"adapt to ATLAS LAr naming conventions"

     - will need to add slides on solution to

f/w cost issue, once resolved with Kj

     Hong

     p. 12 - LAUROC1 includes shaper from BNL, so stress

a bit more the collab. and don't imply ALFE vs

     LAUROC is a "competition"

     p. 15 - "removing the future effort at U Penn"

     p. 17 - say current M&S comes from ATLAS BOE, and now

you are ready to update with a new quote; also quantify

difference in cost with new quote

     p. 19 - what about new quotes for test jigs, packaging?

            - "removing risks" means "retiring" or

     "implementing", or ...?

         Hello all,

We will meet this week in our usual

timeslot of Tuesday at 1 pm NY time.

I have created an agenda page at

The man topic will be the status

of preparations for the Scrubbing at

         BNL on Thurs.+Fri. this week.

In addition to the usual materials

(RLS, BOE, ...) needed for each review,

each L3 should prepare some introductory

slides for the Scrubbing that cover

         the following topics:

         - very brief overview of deliverables

and institutions involved (just to remind

people what the L3 is about)

         - brief technical status, emphasizing

progress since last review and upcoming

major steps (eg. milestones) over next

         ~ 9 - 12 months

         - for NSF, description of boundary

         between preMREFC and MFREC

         - summary of changes implemented to RLS

         since previous review (discuss separately

those covered by an approved BCP and those

implemented in the current RLS but not

         yet approved)

         - summary of changes still needed to

be implemented in RLS, if any.  (particularly

relevent for BE and Syst. Integ., but others

can point out here if they have realized

         any changes still needed)

         - updates M&S costs, due to updating quotes

         - status of Risk register, and any changes

since last review either implemented or

         needed

Start working right away on these

slides, which will be important to organize and

steer the discussion at the Scrubbing.  It is

         particularly important to present coherently

the changes that still need to be made.  As

soon as you have even a partial draft of the

slides, post them to the indico page above,

so that we can iterate together and try achieve

         some consistency across L3s.

               Talk to you tomorrow.`

               Regards,

                       John
