Hello All,

IIRC, EIC version has an ability to assign two (or multiple?) representatives per institution, has "ex-officio" members in the council, and something else. Sorry, it has been a few years since I touched it, and I can't log into EIC phonebook right now (.htaccess is still misconfigured? Drupal intercepts admin url). So, EIC phonebook has features not desired by STAR or sPHENIX (single rep per inst, no ex-officio). Moreover, sPHENIX phonebook does not have an "is_author" flag, as all members are authors in sPHENIX (major difference in accounting). Also, sPHENIX has author lists built into the phonebook, while STAR historically uses external author list script (gets info from the phonebook, but not part of it). As for emails - Maxim may comment on that (or post a screenshot of the admin interface), as I can't log into EIC phonebook.

To summarize: making a universal version that covers mutually exclusive features will require quite some development and testing on my side. It would probably be better to rewrite UI completely using React later, when I'm done with migration of STAR website to Drupal 8 (request by Jamie & Jerome).

Infrastructure request: it would be great to have a staging/dev VM for Drupal and phonebook development. SL7, php 7, apache 2.4+, root access, github access, visible from outside of BNL perimeter.. Will create RAECF ticket for that.

Thanks,
Dmitry

What is custom as features in the EIC version?

The discussion we had was in two folds:

* suggestions was made to converge toward a single package
(customizable) as features added to one version is not available
in another - this way, Maxim could update the EIC one and get all
the bells and whistles of the most recent version while selecting
the features the EIC need.

+ the immediate need is to make sure we have the "Send email
to institution reps" and "send Email to individuals" features
similar to what exists in the STAR version ...
We also need the ability to generate member lists (this may
already there?)

If this is already implemented, we are good (the mass Email features
are needed).

Thanks,

Hi,
Adding Dmitry (please add him to the list if he's not on it)...
Regarding...

...from what he tells me it sounds like the first thing to be clarified is exactly what updates/additions are needed from the user point of view. Different phone book implementations have different requirements/features.
