John,

we'd have to be diligent about it, but I would add a "marker" packet in
the begin-run that would tell the analysis to expect one emcal or the
other, so we don't have to supply that information at the analysis
stage. While still manual, I think it's more reliable to do that while
we are taking the data because we know better what's happening.

We talked about the DAQ updating the Run DB while we are running. If we
have the SQL command that would do that from the command line, it's
straightforward.

That's for next week I guess, but I think I was able to explain to the
ACNET gurus what we want to do with our automated table movements, and
they are working on a safe way to do that (changing a wrong variable
could derail the beam in the extreme case). The way that would work is
that for that automated table dance, we would run the master script from
ftbfbnl01, which can access both the DAQ and acnet.
