Hi Helen, Youqi, Monika,
Thanks for the clarifications. I see the point and that it can provide additional information on jet substructure. I am good with the updated version and sign off

thanks

Hi Sooraj,

Since one of your questions is related to changes Monika made to include Youqi’s analysis in the abstract, let me have a stab at answering

L18: What is the difference implied here between ensemble level and jet-by-jet correlations? Arent all out measurements at ensemble level?

Taking a concrete example of the jet mass and the groomed jet mass. Two different measurements before and after Softdrop grooming is applied. On the ensemble level we take all jets measured in all events apply the corrections and end up with a statistical measure of the jet mass and a second statistical measure of the groomed jet mass. On average the groomed mass is smaller but we don’t know if each jet has a slightly mass or most stay the same with some having significantly different masses. That’s the ensemble level measurement. Youqi’s unfolding using Multifold preserves the correlations on a jet-by-jet basis. She can plot (jet mass)-(groomed jet mass) and see how much the mass changes on a jet-by-jet basis. Within errors Youqi’s jet mass has to agree with the ensemble level measurement, the difference is that multifold preserved the correlations between the variables even after the corrections.

Helen

Hello Monika and Raghav,

Thank you for your replies.
Your abstract looks good to me.
I sign off.
